Guurrrl Sundae

Yesterday when I got home from work Mr. C and I enjoyed a yummy bowl of pintos that he had put in the crock pot before work. They were so delicious with bits of onion, bell pepper and fresh jalepeno. The only thing we both missed is corn bread.....I MISS BREAD!!! After we ate we drove to JoAnn's a local fabric/craft supply store to look for some more yarn for the crocheted blanket I am working on. While we were there I went over to the bead section and picked up some Swarovski crystals for the custom earrings I had planned on working on for the 365 Day Challenge. After picking out pink and peridot crystals I kept thinking about how much I loved the mint chocolate chip earrings and thought hmmmm a giant scoop would look so great as a ring so I picked up an adjustable ring finding.

As soon as I got back home I got started on day 66 of the challenge. I baked the chocolate chips and chopped them teeny tiny and let them cool. I then mixed up transparent, vanilla, and a tiny bit of green clay up until I found the perfect minty color! I sculpted a scoop and mixed in the yummy chocolate chips and baked. After baking I immediately submerge the ring in ice water and let it dry (to make it extra strong). I applied some liquid clay and attached the finding and re-baked and again submerged in ice water. After the ring cooled I tried it on and took some pictures. I decided not to glaze it because I really loved the way it was. It looks SO real and by far is my favorite thing I have ever created from polymer clay. It is now on its way to Asheville, NC and I can't wait to see a picture of it on!

I added a new section to my Etsy shop called, "Guurrrl Sundae" where I plan on offering these jumbo scoop rings in a variety of limited edition flavors as well as custom orders. These rings will be made to order.

Week 8 of the 365 Day Creation Challenge

I really enjoyed creating this past week. I worked on a crochet blanket that I had planned on making in 1997 and I never completed it. It is my first "non-granny square" project and I can't wait to complete it (If I can find the lost bag of yarn). The yarn is extremely soft.

I got to meet up with a judge from the Howl-o-ween contest from Feeders Supply who is doing an art challenge of her own. We met at a local coffee shop and I think I talked her ears off. She is creating some wonderful projects. Her blog, "Melonius Thunk", chronicles her, "journey from attorney to creative genius".

My week ended on a high note and I promise to get better pictures this week and write a blog solely on how wonderful the Oliver+S patterns are. I received the sailboat pattern on Friday and immediately I got to sewing. The skirt and pants come together as a quick project. I had a few minor problems attaching the sleeves to the top but with some tips from Penelope Ann I am ready to try it again.

Here are my favorites from the week:

My favorite part of the challenge this week is the support from other challenge members.

Week 7 in Review

Wow this week I missed two days of the challenge due to the fact that I laid down to take a nap and didn't get back up until the next day. But the great thing about the challenge if you get to busy is there is always the next day! I know everyone has busy lives. Some of you have children, some of you are attending school, and work whether at home or out keeps you busy. I just want to encourage each of you to continue with the challenge. If you miss a day do NOT beat yourself up! There is always a brand new day to create! I also hope that sharing this will encourage someone else to join in the challenge! So continue to spread the word!!!

I have been trying to get a few bills paid off which has kept me from ordering larger pieces of fabric. Today I ordered my FIRST Oliver+S pattern. I have been drooling over their patterns for months now and I had a huge conflict on trying to choose one! I chose the Sailboat shirt, skirt, and top. I am really looking forward to making an outfit for my youngest nephew and I also purchased two licenses today to place outfits in my shop. I hope that I do a great job with the pattern and I can purchase additional licenses for more outfits! I'm going to go after work today to finally fabric shop!!! I'm thinking corduroy pants!!! :)

Most of my projects for the past few weeks have been small due to my small supply stash. My favorites have been the Where The Wild Things are ornament collection that I have been working on. I am working on the last monster today and then I will offer the entire set. I also had a blast making all of the Halloween treats to bring to my niece and nephew.

Here are some of my favorite items created by 365 Creation Challenge members.

Happy Halloween

Mummy Smokey Links!!! I used a recipe I found on Disney's Family Fun site but I used cocktail smokies instead of hotdogs and Crescent rolls instead of refrigerator rolls!

Monster Cheese Fingers I also found this recipe on Disney's Family Fun site. The only difference is that I used cream cheese with chives and Red bell pepper.

Candy Apples I used a recipe from About.com

I'm getting ready to head over to my sister's to see my niece and nephew. I hope they like my ghoulish treats!!!
